A Grammar Checker That Works in Every App on Your Mac or PC

Most grammar checkers live in one place. A website you paste into, a plugin for one word processor, or an extension that only sees your browser. The typo in your Slack message, your Mail reply or your Notes draft stays where it is.

Edyt takes the other approach. It is a grammar checker that runs on your Mac or PC and works inside the app you are already typing in.

How it works

Edyt Desktop checks the text you type one sentence at a time. When you finish a sentence, it looks for spelling, grammar, punctuation and wording mistakes and underlines anything that needs a second look. Hover the underline to see the fix. One click puts it in place.

On a Mac that happens in Mail, Slack, Notes, Messages and most other apps. On Windows it works in Slack, most browsers and many other apps. In Chrome, the Edyt extension does the same on web pages, and it works on its own without the desktop app.

Nothing to copy, nothing to paste back. The text stays where it was.

A grammar checker for Slack

Chat is where typos happen most. Messages are short, you type fast, and you press Enter before you read the line back.

Edyt underlines the mistake while the message is still in the box. Fix it, then send. The same goes for a reply in Mail, a comment in a shared doc, or a support form in your browser.

A grammar checker for Mac and Windows

The desktop app does the same job on both. On a Mac it asks for accessibility access once, so it can read the text you type and put the fix back. Windows needs no extra permission. The Mac build is notarized and the Windows build is code-signed. How Edyt handles your text has the details.

Without installing anything

If you only want to check one thing, the free grammar checker on this site is the same checker opened on a draft. Paste your text, see the underlines, fix them. No account needed.

What happens to your text

Edyt sends only the text it checks, over an encrypted connection, and keeps none of it after the reply comes back. Your text is never used to train AI models.

Fixes that sound like you

A checker that only knows the rules makes everyone sound the same. The card under each underline also has Rewrite and your own prompts, so when a sentence is correct but still not right, you fix it in your own words. Write the instruction once, for example "Short sentences. Warm, not formal.", and every rewrite comes back that way.

Final note

Try it on the next message you were about to send. If it underlines nothing, good. If it underlines one thing, that was the one you would have noticed after sending.

Try it on your own writing.
