Select what you don't get
A term, a clause in a contract, a dense paragraph.

Press the shortcut
Ctrl+Shift+X, or open the toolbar and press X.

Read it in the panel
A summary, key points, and key terms. Ask follow-ups in the same panel.
Make it yours.
Explain panel
Opens when you run Explain.
- Language
- Pick one of 15 at the top of the sidebar. Recent ones come first, and Edyt remembers your choice.
- Sidebar
- Shows what fits your selection: a definition for a word, key terms for a sentence, a summary for longer text. Click any of it to ask more.
- Follow-ups
- Ask anything below the answer, in the same panel.
- Layout
- Hide the sidebar or drag its edge to resize it. Edyt remembers both.
Explain settings
Open Toolbar in Edyt and click the gear next to Explain.
- Prompt
- Custom runs the built-in instruction. Pick one of your prompts or a Library prompt to run that instead.
- Instruction
- Edit the text to change how it explains, like simpler or more technical. Bold and lists work too.
- Shortcut
- Ctrl+Shift+X by default. Click the pencil and press the keys you want.
- Reset to default
- Brings back the built-in instruction and shortcut in one click.
Toolbar page
Open Edyt and pick Toolbar in the sidebar.
- Show or hide
- Switch Explain off to take it off the toolbar. Its shortcut keeps working.
- Order
- Drag the buttons under Toolbar order to rearrange them. The arrow puts them back.
Explain questions
Yes. Pick the language in the Explain panel. Edyt remembers your choice.
